Mayo Clinic - Goeckerman first used crude coal tar followed by UVB light treatment. 1930’s Three bands defined UVA, UVB and UVC. 1970’s NBC (National Biological Corp) worked with GE and Sylvania on the introduction of UVA/PUVA irradiators. First true clinical trials of PUVA in the USA and Europe. UVB Irradiators introduced in the mid 70’s by NBC. Defined sources became available. One could now buy UVA or UVB sources. Narrow Band UVB followed in the 80’s.
